Inspired by the contemporary timber frame homes of the American West, this residence blends a sense of grandeur with a sophisticated, cohesive palette. The site plan is both ambitious and immersive, featuring a field house, pond, pool, tennis court, and a striking main residence — creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience.

Rooted in the original concept of a field house, the design evolved into a fully integrated retreat where every element supports a lifestyle centered around comfort, recreation, and connection to nature. The material palette was guided by one key principle: every surface should be enriched by natural textures — whether warmed by wood, aged by patinaed metal, or grounded by solid surface materials. The result is a hearth-like atmosphere in every room, where warmth and authenticity define the character of the home.

The exterior blends cool grey siding with natural Douglas Fir accents, creating a striking yet harmonious contrast that grounds the home in its natural surroundings. Inside, the Douglas Fir continues with a custom grey-wash finish, softening the material while maintaining its organic warmth. This choice fosters a lodge-like, cozy environment that flows seamlessly throughout the interior — reinforcing the sense of refuge and retreat at the heart of the design.
