Modern Timber Frame | Cayuga Lake, NY
A modern timber frame family lake home inspired by the quiet western shores of Cayuga Lake and complimented by the clients NYC lifestyle.
Project Details
Timber frames don’t have to be rustic. This home sits along the west side of Cayuga Lake on a unique steeped sloped site and combines a natural douglas fir and steel structure with Carrera marble tile and reclaimed walnut floors. We twisted the ‘H’ style footprint to create more dramatic sweeping views to the North and South. The complex timber frame receives you in the entry and stair tower with large ceilings and clearstory windows. As you move through the house various ceiling heights with wood and steel details create specific spaces in the open floor plan, allowing people to move freely through the spaces but not get lost in one large room. The line between the interior and exterior is blurred with the use of large operable walls that open up to the vast deck, grill kitchen and custom hot tub.
